Our management team is all-volunteer, so 100% of your donation goes directly toward the ongoing development of software to help people manage emergency pet shelters during a disaster. The many aspects of emergency pet sheltering to be addressed by this software include:
- Educating volunteers for the many tasks involved in setup, management and closure of emergency pet shelters
- Management of all data needed for efficient team deployment
- Management of pet care (housing, feeding, exercise, stress reduction and veterinary care)
- Contact information for all parties within and outside the facility (team personnel, local suppliers of food and materials, government agencies)
- Detailed volunteer management tracking individuals’ experience and special skills; tracking volunteer hours
- Financial tracking of donations and expenses, with the capacity to generate multiple reports for internal and external use (e.g., reporting to local, state and federal emergency management administrators)

Why we need your help
As the number of disasters across the country increases due to fires, flooding, tornadoes, and hurricanes, people and animals are increasingly likely to experience temporary displacement due to a natural disaster.
At present, many regions lack adequate planning to set up and manage pet care in an emergency. The information that needs to be tracked can be overwhelming. DART Command Central exists to solve that problem with intuitive, user-friendly software. Importantly, this software will be available for free to registered teams across the country, since we believe strongly that cost should not be a barrier to high quality, well managed pet care in the face of a disaster.
